All executives and employees of the Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Bureau recognize ESG as a core management value in fulfilling our social responsibilities to the local community and achieving sustainable growth as a public enterprise established by Gyeongju City. As a leading public institution promoting ESG management in Gyeongju’s tourism and MICE industry, we hereby declare our commitment to fulfilling the following responsibilities and roles.
Leading Sustainable Green Tourism and MICE
We practice low-carbon and green management to realize Green MICE, actively pursue tangible energy savings, promote environmentally responsible consumption and efficient use of resources, and take the lead in enabling Gyeongju to achieve sustainable growth as an eco-friendly tourism destination.

We strive to lead the regional tourism and MICE industry, foster it as a new growth engine that revitalizes the local economy, and contribute to the welfare and happiness of Gyeongju citizens. As a leading public institution specializing in MICE and tourism and working toward making Gyeongju a global MICE city of the future, we are committed to realizing the value of respect for human rights throughout all of our management activities.
Accordingly, we place the dignity and value of every individual at the heart of our management and adopt human rights management as the standard of conduct and judgment to be observed by all executives and employees. We hereby pledge to put the following principles into practice.
- First, we comply with international and domestic standards that uphold the values of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption.
- First, we do not discriminate against any stakeholder, including our executives and employees, Gyeongju citizens, visitors to Gyeongju, MICE participants, and tourism businesses, on the grounds of race, religion, disability, gender, place of birth, political opinion, or any other status.
- We guarantee employees’ freedom to exercise the three fundamental labor rights in order to protect and promote their human rights, and pursue mutual prosperity based on trust between labor and management.
- We do not tolerate any form of forced labor or child labor.

- We provide citizens and customers visiting the facilities operated by our organization with a safe, convenient, and hygienic environment, while working to protect the environment and prevent pollution and noise.
- We protect personal information collected in the course of business from stakeholders and partner companies.
- We make every effort to prevent human rights violations in advance and provide prompt and appropriate remedies in the event of any human rights infringement.

HICO Occupational Safety and Health Management Policy
The Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Bureau recognizes the safety and health of all employees as its highest priority throughout all corporate management activities. We establish and operate an occupational safety and health management system in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards, and make every effort to provide all employees with a safe and pleasant working environment.
To this end, we continuously improve our occupational safety and health environment through the following activities.

The President shall make the protection of workers’ lives and the creation of a safe working environment the highest priorities of corporate management activities.

The President shall establish an occupational safety and health management system at the workplace and provide sufficient human and material resources to eliminate and control workplace hazards.

We establish occupational safety and health objectives and formulate and implement detailed action plans to achieve them.

We establish and faithfully implement internal regulations in compliance with applicable occupational safety and health laws and related requirements.

We identify hazards through worker participation, ensure that identified hazards are addressed and improved, and share relevant information through education and training.

We ensure that all members are aware of hazards related to their duties and provide education and training on hazard elimination, substitution, and control measures.

We require all suppliers and contractors to comply with our occupational safety and health policy and safety requirements.

All members shall faithfully fulfill their responsibilities and obligations related to occupational safety and health activities.
